Oxidizers

Substances promoting oxidation reactions

Oxidation is the loss of electrons in a reaction. When an oxidizing agent is used on an equipment surface, the remaining process residues undergoes a change in structure in which an oxygen from the oxizidizng agent becomes bound to the residue. The addition of oxygen results in a more polar molecule making it easier for organic solvents to remove the process residue.
