Conductivity

Material's electrical conduction ability

Conductivity is defined in USP <644>, Conductivity of Solutions, as "the measurement of the ability of a fluid to conduct electricity via its chemical ions. The ability of any ion to electrically conduct is directly related to its ion mobility." In the context of cleaning, conductivity is used to determine if cleaning agents remain on the equipment surface. In CIP, the conductivity is continuously measured using an installed conductivity meter and sensors as a way to determine when cleaning agents have been fully flushed from the system when appropriate.
