Air purge

Clean compressed air forces dislodged debris and liquids to drains

An air purge uses clean compressed air to clear CIP supply lines, including process piping. The purpose of the air purge is to force remaining liquids or dislodged residues to the drain. An air purge may be performed several times during a cleaning cycle such as prior to introducing cleaning agents, before changing cleaning agents, and the conclusion of cleaning. ISO 13408-4:2005 Aseptic processing of health care products Part 4: Clean-in-place technologies offers guidance to designing equipment for CIP and optimizing CIP.
